Talent Management - Hiring and Retention: Worked with senior management to increase effectiveness of hiring process. Ongoing results include fewer mis-hires, more accurate “fit-to-role” placement and a resulting reduction in turnover and hiring and training costs.
- Performance Appraisal: Led top managers to directly link the organization’s performance appraisal and role placement systems to its mission and strategy while upgrading performance appraisal systems to integrate leadership capacity with core competencies, creating a powerful appraisal system and the beginnings of a robust leadership pipeline.
- Performance Appraisal, Compensation & Benefits: Assisted two recently merged organizations in harmonizing their performance appraisal systems and compensation and benefits schemes. Results included a more streamlined, understandable and easily implementable appraisal system and a compensation and benefits system that satisfied employees for both organizations while lowering organizational risk by limiting contribution to the pension scheme and greatly simplifying the compensation system.
- Job Descriptions, Roles & Responsibilities: Through coaching of senior management we facilitated the clear definition of job descriptions, roles and responsibilities in a multinational organization leading to dramatically improved coordination, employee satisfaction and motivation, and bottom line results.
- Internal Placement System: Consulted on development of internal job rotation system resulting in increased employee satisfaction, effective cross-training, improved team cohesion and greater cross-functional understanding and collaboration.
- Career Planning & Development: Co-created individual development profiles linked to leadership assessments and personal and team scorecards that improved core leadership competencies, key performance indicators, and target agreement results
- Ongoing Training & Development: Installed a leadership pipeline in an acquired firm with “no leadership” resulting in pipeline members matching or exceeding the leadership standards of the owner company within three years. Followed up with a customized Training-Of-Trainer program for leaders to develop their colleagues and subordinates from “experts” to managers and project managers.
Organization Development - M&A Integration: Consulted with a newly integrated organization on transforming the two existing cultures into a powerful new one more focused on creating bottom line improvements. Results included a new and targeted appraisal, compensation and benefits system that helped employees re-orient their time and energy improving bottom line performance.
- Organizational Culture Transformation: Guiding the transformation of an R&D culture in a major automotive manufacturer from an “I-shaped” center to a “T-shaped” center resulting in significant product improvement, cost advantages, leadership, decision-making enhancement and global coordination ability.
- Systems & Processes Reengineering: Tasked by senior management of a service industry organization to help revitalize their "profit" center, we worked across functions, business units, with front line employees, middle and upper management to generate new thinking, processes, systems and actions to innovate and improve customer service. Results included significant increases in employee excitement and motivation as well as customer retention and cross-category product and service utilization.
- Leadership Pipeline Development: Installed a leadership pipeline in an acquired firm with “no leadership” resulting in pipeline members matching or exceeding the leadership standards of the owner company within three years.
- International Project Management: Retrained project managers to become international project managers (following a global merger) creating a change from endemic in-fighting to collaboration, systems and processes integration, and cost reduction.
- Organization Design: Consulted on the design of a local multicultural organization for a foreign entity with the result that it went on to outperform most of its sister organizations in Asia, Europe and North America.
- Organizational Health and Wellness: Co-created an organizational wellness program with a core group of client representatives that dramatically reduced stress, increased peer support, and improved motivation and productivity in top and middle level managers.
Sustainability - Organization Design: Designed the Japanese organizational structure for an international NPO resulting in strong foreign/Japanese communication, pro-activity, innovation and fundraising ability for the organization
- Community Integration: Created and project managed a United Nations’ program that trained government officials to improve environmental conditions while improving living conditions for urban poor. The program resulted in the transformation of an illegal shantytown into a thriving community that rented and renovated polluted land, built houses, found jobs, increased security, and decreased drug use
- Network and Project Creation: Co-created an environmental citizens’ committee that integrated the non-profit organizations and developed environmental initiatives within a Japanese prefecture (state)
